Much of southern Ontario, including St. Thomas-Elgin, continues to swelter under heat warnings issued by Environment Canada over the weekend.
Maximum temperatures are expected to hover around 30 today, with the minimum in the low to mid-twenties, bringing little relief from the heat.
In addition, humidex values are forecast to reach near 40, with cooler temperatures expected to arrive Tuesday.
Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index approaching the high risk category.
The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.
Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place.
Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
