Ontario has announced a nearly $4 billion investment to help bring high-speed internet access to unserved and underserved communities by 2025, including across St. Thomas-Elgin.
266,000 homes and businesses and as many as 339 municipalities across Ontario will benefit from the deal signed between the province and eight internet service providers.
Xplornet Communications Inc. will receive roughly $240 million from the provincial government to provide an estimated 54,679 homes and businesses with reliable high-speed internet.
This includes those unserved and underserved Aylmer, Bayham, Central Elgin, Dutton-Dunwich, Malahide, Southwold, St. Thomas and West Elgin.
