This week’s Destination Local Feature Sponsored by Elgin County Tourism and fuelled by Lynhurst Esso and Variety is Rush Creek Wines.
Rush Creek Wines is Elgin County’s award winning winery, nestled just 2 miles from the shores of Lake Erie.
Established back in the early 1990s as a use for the extra fruit harvested from the farm, Rush Creek Wines is a unique one of a kind winery operation that features over 23 different wines made from a host of unique fruit grown in the region.
Owner Ron Barr does note that when wine lovers first hear about the fruit flavours, they aren’t always sold on the idea right away.
Adding that the wines, partnered with the welcoming atmosphere of Rush Creek is the perfect reason to come out for a visit.
Although the wine portion of a visit is reserved for those of legal drinking age, Barr says that Rush Creek Wines has something for people young and old.
He expands on the extensive collection, ranging from an inventory of trading cards to items such as rare cereal boxes.
Rush Creek Wines offers tours of their facility, with reservation available via phone or request an appointment through their Facebook page.
Rush Creek Wines is located at 48995 Jamestown Line, Aylmer and is open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays until 6 p.m.
