A St. Thomas resident is out $11,000 after falling victim to a gift card scam.
The individual was contacted by a man warning of suspicious activity on their credit card.
To remove the charges, they were to purchase prepaid MasterCards and provide the caller with the numbers, which they did.
City police remind residents to be hyper-vigilant with banking information and never purchase gift cards when directed by someone over the phone.
