Lyons Line at Whittaker Road will remain closed until late afternoon Thursday as Elgin County OPP continue to investigate a collision involving an electric bike and pickup truck.
Around 7 o’clock this morning, Elgin OPP, Malahide Fire Services and Elgin EMS responded to the scene where an electric bike, similar to a motorcycle, collided with a pickup truck hauling a horse trailer.
That resulted in the pickup truck leaving the roadway, rolling over and colliding with a hydro pole. The horse did escape the trailer but was later located on the roadway, sustaining minor injuries.
The driver of the electric bike was transferred to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries, with the driver of the pickup truck transported to hospital for treatment of minor injures.
The West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team continue to investigate and further updates will be provided when they become available.
