Ontario Provincial Police say more than 250 people have been killed in land and water collisions so far this year.
Sergeant Kerry Schmidt says 259 people in the province lost their lives on roads, trails and waterways since January, including 19 fatalities last week alone.
Schmidt also says fatal statistics are up this year in categories like distracted driving, impaired driving, and people not wearing seatbelts or safety equipment when compared to last year.
He adds that there has been a 300 per cent increase in bicycle fatalities so far this year compared to 2021.
Police say that seven motorcyclists have also died in collisions this year on OPP patrolled roads, compared to three at this time last year.
