Technically there’s still three weeks left of summer, but for most of us, the Labour Day long weekend sees it come to an end.
With that being said, police will be out in full force this weekend making our streets, highways, trails and waterways as safe as possible.
OPP Constable Joe Terschuck says if your plans include travelling, make sure you give yourself plenty of extra time.
The OPP and police forces across the province will be keeping a close eye on the big four causes of fatalities on our roadways: Impaired driving, distracted driving, not using a seatbelt and speeding.
If you’re heading to the cottage, trailer, or a campground this weekend, make sure you give yourself lots of time, and as Constable Terschuk notes try to buy what you need at home before you hit the road.
Once there, if you plan to mark the occasion by hitting the water in a boat, jet-ski, or any other water vessel, Tereschuk says there’s one thing you have to leave on dry land.
That goes for anyone using any motorized vehicle on a trail too, so if you’ve had a few then decide to hop on the ATV or side-by-side, don’t.
