It’s back to the classroom this week for local student and challenges parents have during this time is making sure the right food and dietary choices make it to school with their kids.
myFM spoke with Registered Dietitian Claire Bilik, who says two key things are balance and variety.
She says a balanced lunch can come in many forms, however choosing items mainly from Canada’s Food Guide can be a benefit.
The Food Guide has great tips and a whole section on healthy eating at school and making balanced choices at school. Bilik adds that a balanced roster of foods is always important.
Parents can also utilize the resource “A School Lunch Your Kids Will Munch” from the Ontario Dietitians in Public Health.
