More than 10,000 children, adolescents, and young adults in Canada are in treatment or 5-year follow-up for cancer right now.
Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is this month and a flag-raising ceremony was held Monday morning at St. Thomas city hall.
Childcan executive director Suzanne Elliot tells myFM how important the month is.
Elliot says she is amazed at the resiliency of impacted youngsters.
The ceremony originally appeared threatened by heavy rain and a thunderstorm, however the clouds cleared moments before the 9 a.m. start.
In addition to the flag raising, the Jumbo monument will also be bathed in a gold glow.
