While most Canadians celebrated the Thanksgiving weekend in their own personal way, one St. Thomas teen had a uniquely different reason to give thanks.
Sixteen-year-old Owen Sharkey (left in the photo) and his two American teammates finished second out of 20 teams Sunday at a Fortnite competition, part of Twitch Con 2022 in San Diego.
That earned the three members of Team Building $27,000 U.S.
Sharkey told myFM how the trio have only played together for a month.
Sharkey, who goes by the handle qtsharkman, is a Grade 12 student at St. Joseph’s High School.
Don’t get him started on why he likes playing Fortnite, the award-winning video game released in 2017 by Epic Games.
myFM put it to Sharkey, what’s the attraction of Fortnite?
So, when the video game you love playing puts money in your pocket, what do you do when you graduate from high school?
Sharkey spends several hours a day practicing but will still find time this winter to play futsal.
