It’s municipal election day in 444 Ontario municipalities.
In St. Thomas, polls are open until 8 this evening. Remember there are no paper ballots, voting is by remote internet and telephone in St. Thomas for mayor, councillors and school board trustees.
Internet voting allows electors to vote from any location with an available connection on computers, tablets and cell phones. Telephone voting allows people to call from any touch-tone dial pad, toll-free from anywhere in Canada and the U.S. Using your PIN and date of birth allows you to vote by internet or phone.
For those electors who do not have access to a telephone or the internet and who need assistance, a mobile voter help centre will operate today from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at St. Thomas Public Library, 153 Curtis Street.
Three candidates are vying for the position of Mayor in the City. Incumbent Joe Preston, along with former Mayor Heather Jackson & newcomer Gregg McCart.
Sixteen candidates are seeking one of the 8 councillor seats available. Six incumbents are seeking reelection, which means that there will certainly be some new blood on City Council after the polls close. You can read all their profiles HERE.
Stay tuned to 94.1 myFM as the polls close, on air and online, for the latest results from all local municipalities.
