This past Monday’s meeting closed out the four-year term of city council.
It was the final session for two councillors.
Mark Burgess – who was absent for the meeting – was appointed to fill the seat vacated on the death of Coun. Mark Tinlin. And Joan Rymal, who did not seek re-election.
Prior to receiving farewell gifts, Rymal thanked members of council and city staff.
Mayor Joe Preston praised Rymal for her contributions over what has been, at times, a difficult period for council with the deaths of councillors Linda Stevenson and Mark Tinlin.
Two newly elected councillors, Rose Gibson and Tara McCaulley, will be ceremoniously sworn in at the Nov. 21 council meeting.
