With the recent appearance of counterfeit money in Aylmer and St. Thomas, police in both communities are warning local businesses and residents about the fake $20 bills.
There is one very obvious tip off, advises Aylmer Police Deputy Chief Kyle Johnstone.
Another blatant warning sign is a note on the bill that it is not legal tender but, instead, is a movie prop.
It also comes down to the feel of a fake $20 bill, notes Johnstone.
Another give away is all the counterfeit bills have an identical serial number of “DB66688803.”
Businesses are encouraged to educate employees to help combat fraud.
Think you have a counterfeit bill? Here’s what to do next, according to Johnstone.
