myFM salutes this year’s Kubota Woman Farmer of the year, Donna Crinklaw.
She and her late husband cash cropped in Elgin and Middlesex counties for more than three decades.
Following her husband’s death last year, she continued to spearhead the business, D&S Crinklaw & Sons, with her three sons.
The couple ran a crop drying business for decades. She has farmed, run equipment, purchased seed, made deals and now her three sons take care of the day-to-day operations.
The family recently relocated to another of their farms when the City of London purchased the land for industrial expansion.
She was born and raised on a farm, and it was always her goal in life to raise her family in similar fashion.
When asked about advice she would give a young woman considering an ag-related career, Donna’s answer is short and to the point.
And when it comes to advice, the words of her father still resonate with her.
She is recognized as an outstanding member of the community who is always willing to assist when she can.
Donna says she is appreciative of the award in recognition of her decades spent in the operation of the farming business with her family.
She adds, “I still help out wherever I can.”
