A St. Thomas woman lost $300 after being victimized in a puppy scam.
She responded to an online ad for a puppy and was instructed to e-transfer the money to cover the cost of transporting the animal to the city. After sending the funds, all communication ceased.
St. Thomas Police advise puppy scams are becoming more common and people should be wary of sellers who only communicate electronically. And, if the price is too good to be true, it probably is.
