For five-year-old Alden Charlton, a trip to Florida later this month is not about sun and sand.
It’s all about hope.
Putting your faith in the team at the University of Florida Proton Treatment Institute to give him the upper hand as he deals with a rare form of Ewing’s Sarcoma.
His mother Angela explains what her little warrior is up against.
No five-year-old should have to endure this.

Alden has already undergone radiation treatment and Angela explains the next chapter, which involves an eight-week round of treatments at the University of Florida Proton Treatment Institute.
In spite of all he has faced, Angela says her son is hanging in tough.
As for Angela and her family, she admits there are times when the ordeal takes its toll.
While OHIP will cover the cost of treatments in Florida, the family is on the hook for all other expenses over the two-month period.
