A report to council from city clerk Maria Konefal breaking down the demographics of voters in the October municipal election generated plenty of suggestions Monday evening. With a dismal voter turnout of 30.6 per cent, the unanswered question is why didn’t people vote. One suggestion to engage young people is to have members of council available to speak to high school students in civics classes. Council expressed interest in the formation of a working group to determine ways to re-engage the public when it comes time to vote.
