In looking back at the past year Earl Taylor, Downtown Development Board general manager feels city businesses are making a comeback following two very difficult pandemic years.
He attributes that to the ability of business owners to adapt.
Taylor adds it will be incumbent on businesses to continue to attract customers downtown for in-person shopping.
And, when reflecting back on this past year, the word ‘pivot’ is an apt description of what downtown businesses had to do to keep their doors open, advises Taylor.
It’s a reminder, adds Taylor, that businesses have to be ready for tomorrow and whatever it may bring.
Taylor point out many downtown city businesses will face traffic disruption in 2023. He says continuing upgrades to Talbot Street infrastructure can’t be put off any longer.
Taylor notes one event in jeopardy this year is the Nostalgia Nights car show which may have to be moved off Talbot Street due to construction.
