While five-year-old Alden Charlton continues his cancer treatment at the University of Florida Proton Treatment Institute, a big-time fundraiser is being planned back home in St. Thomas.
Alden is dealing with a rare form of Ewing’s Sarcoma and that inspired city firefighter Rob Eaton, a member of the band Sold for Sheep, to dedicate a gig at the Back Alley in support of the little warrior and his family.
They describe their gigs as a jukebox full of tunes, designed to keep everybody up and dancing.
Eaton explains what’s on tap that evening.
The St. Thomas Professional Firefighter’s Association has already donated $1,000 to assist Alden and his family.
He has never met Alden, however Eaton, a platoon chief with the St. Thomas Fire Department just knew he had to help “an incredible kid who is going to kick cancer’s butt.”
But it doesn’t stop with a fundraising concert, stresses Eaton.
The fundraiser is Feb. 18 with Sold for Sheep and special guest, alt-rockers Trope.
Admission is a $5 donation at the door.
