Work on Phase 3 of Talbot Street reconstruction could begin as early as mid-March if council Monday evening approves accepting the winning tender.
The lowest bidder was Cassidy Construction of London at $6.6 million.
Eight bids were received. With contingency and tax included, the total cost is $7.2 million, with the city allocating $7.5 million.
The work will be split into two segments and the project is scheduled to be completed at the end of September.
According to the report to be presented to council on Monday, This project is a continuation of the Talbot Street streetscape that was completed in 2018 (Phase II).
Similar to Phase II (as pictured), the project objective is to create a pedestrian friendly environment in the downtown core while renewing underground infrastructure.
Using Phase I and II as a basis, city staff completed the project design. The Downtown Development Board was consulted throughout the design and a public information
centre was held January 25.
