Although winter weather is going to hit us again Wednesday and Thursday, that hasn’t been the case for much of the season.
The above normal temperatures of late have made it difficult for maple syrup producers in the province to predict when to begin harvesting from trees.

Palmer says they have already begun tapping trees and the early start has been the case in the past several years.
John Williams, executive director of the Ontario Maple Syrup Producers’ Association says producers across the province are relying on one another for guidance on when to start harvesting.
The fear is the weather is changing too quickly and concerns about what the earlier start will do to the harvest.
Palmer tells myFM her thoughts on ideal conditions for tapping season.
The third-generation producers have been in business since 1955. It is the largest maple syrup operation in Elgin county.
