The first annual national symposium on agricultural mental health takes place March 8th.
The free virtual symposium is being hosted by The Guardian Network, a volunteer group focused on suicide prevention working within the CMHA umbrella.
Program Manager Marnie Wood points to the results from a 2016 Canada-wide survey as to why there needs to be a focal point on mental health in the production field.
There’s been decades of research into the mental health of producers in the country, and a goal of the symposium is to piece it all together, says Wood.
