It’s an exciting time for the Catfish Creek Conservation Authority who are ready to welcome back fishing at Springwater Pond.
The Trout fishing season officially kicks off this Saturday and thanks to the Order of Good Cheer, $2000 worth of Rainbow Trout have been added to the local pond so that the Annual Trout Derby could go ahead.
For those who have not participated in the past, Brittany Bell the Program Support Assistant with the Catfish Creek Conservation Authority explains how the derby works.
Bell notes that participants will need to be on the lookout for the 3 tagged fish that are swimming around Springwater Conservation Area as they have a $100 prize attached!
And if you want to get involved but don’t have a fishing pole, Bell says not to worry!
Bell adds that they are very excited to be able to welcome these annual events back at Springwater.
The fishing derby will run from April 22nd to May 19th.
Reminder- The cost to fish is $10.00 per person per day (children 14 and under are free) and for the remainder of the season, the day use rate is $3.00 per person per day or $10.00 per vehicle.
