April is Be-A-Donor Month as it serves a reminder of the importance of organ donation.
Mary Pressley Vyas is an organ donor advocate and says you must make it clear to those around you that you are a donor, even after you sign up.
There’s currently 1,280 Ontario residents with an end-stage disease waiting for an organ, including 24 children and 53 people between the ages of 18-30.
Pressley Vyas notes that many of them never make it off the list.
There’s been 137 organ donations in 2023 to date from both deceased and living donors.
