A St. Thomas resident is out $1,500 after being victimized in a gift card scam.
On April 25, the individual received a phone call, aggressive in nature, from an unknown individual demanding they buy $1,500 worth of gift cards.
After completing the transaction, the caller demanded the individual do the same at a different store.
An employee at that outlet advised the victim they were being scammed, at which point they contacted city police who are investigating.
