Ontario Provincial Police have changed their policy when it comes to releasing names of those killed in tragedy.
Manager of Media Relations with the OPP Bill Dickson tells us that they made the move to simply protect the families.
Dickson tells us that they understand that names will still get out to the public, but it won’t be on their watch.
Dickson goes onto say that the OPP will however, continue to release the names of those who pose a threat to the community, such as an active homicide investigation or major drug bust.
