With all the excitement of the long weekend on our minds, residents are being reminded about final pick up dates for leaf and yard waste across the city and county.
In St. Thomas, next week during your regular scheduled garbage day will be your last chance to leave leaf and yard waste out for collection.
Those in built-up areas of Central Elgin have until May 29th, which is the last collection day this spring, and must have their biodegradable paper yard waste bags out by 7 a.m. on collection day.
For residents of Elgin County outside of collection areas, yard waste can be dropped off in St. Thomas at the Community Recycling Centre at 330 South Edgeware Road. This includes Aylmer residents who may still have yard waste lying around following collection dates in April.
Up to 5 biodegradable paper yard waste bags can be dropped off at the Community Recycling Centre free of charge.
Acceptable Material includes: Grass, leaves, weeds, plants and brush (no longer than 3 feet and no thicker than 2 inches in diameter).
