With a lifeguard shortage threatening to close some public pools this summer, Ontario says it’s lowering the job’s minimum age requirement.
Health Minister Sylvia Jones says lowering the age from 16 to 15 will keep pools and recreational camp waterfronts open and safe.
The province says the change comes into effect immediately and aligns with updated requirements from the Lifesaving Society’s certification course.
