At a special meeting of council Thursday morning, Elgin county announced the appointment of an interim CAO.
Don Shropshire will serve in the capacity during the recruitment process for a permanent CAO.
He served as CAO in Chatham-Kent for 10 years and as National Director of Disaster Management for the Red Cross for 15 years.
Elgin County Warden Ed Ketchabaw advises, “Don’s vast experience, exemplary leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively are highly valued as we strive to implement this term of council’s plans and goals.”
He fills the position vacated in early May by Julie Gonyou.
She abruptly tendered her resignation after more than five years as CAO.
