Tick season is upon us, and tick bites can be dangerous.
Ticks can carry a bacteria that causes lyme disease, though the threat is reduced if the tick is removed before the 24 hour mark.
Public Health Inspector Kaitlyn Kelly says you can remove a tick yourself.
Kelly recommends monitoring for symptoms for up to 30 days afterwards.
Kelly explains that light coloured clothes and less exposed skin can help prevent tick bites.
Pet owners are also reminded to always check their pets for ticks after being outside this time of year.
