The annual Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign made an early return this year, but that didn’t stop the community of St. Thomas from showing their support.
In fact, Tim Hortons restaurants across the Railway City collected their largest Smile Cookie donation to date this spring, with an incredible $65,232.37 raised.
For the 9th consecutive year Diane Stewart and Brian Tisdelle, St. Thomas Tim Hortons restaurant owners named the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital as the beneficiary for the campaign.
Stewart says they are so thankful to the community for supporting such an important cause.
With a big focus on supporting kids, whether that be through Timbits sporting initiatives or their work with hospital over the years, Stewart felt the funds should once again benefit the Women & Children’s Unit at STEGH.
Tonya Sheldon, STEGH Vice President/CFO and Interim Foundation Executive Director who was on hand for the donation, explains the importance of a resuscitaire machine at the hospital.
With this latest donation, more than $335,000 has now been donated to STEGH over the last nine years through the annual Smile Cookie Campaign. Stewart adds that the number will also continue to grow, as Tim Hortons St. Thomas will once again support our hospital in the spring of 2024.
Since the first ever Smile Cookie campaign took place back in 1996, more than $111 million has been raised for local charities and community groups selected every year by Tim Hortons restaurant owners.
