An Ontario bill that would require soccer nets to be properly secured is one step closer to becoming law.
The legislation is going through committee hearings today, the step before bringing it back for third and final reading.
The parents of 15-year-old Garrett Mills say they believe their son would still be here today if there had been a law requiring officials to secure soccer goals.
Garrett died in 2017 after a 200-pound movable soccer net in a Napanee park fell on top of him while he was doing chin-ups on the crossbar.
