A program designed to give families the chance to experience the magic of camping for the first time is once again accepting nominations.
The “Rewild the Family” program, run through the Kettle Creek Environmental Trust is seeking nominations from residents in Elgin County who are experiencing a nature deficit as a result of financial need, social hardship or other unique circumstances.
The two families chosen to be re-wild will be provided with a free weekend of camping at Dalewood Conservation Area, a mentor to teach them how to pitch a tent, build a campfire, cook a meal and all the equipment so they can repeat the experience on their own.
Applications are being accepted until available spots are filled.
