The world premiere of a four women show is on stage now at Port Stanley Festival Theatre.
“The Beaver Club” written by up and coming playwright Barb Scheffler, follows neighbours Eunice, Karen, Radiance and Yvette as they scrapbook, squabble and skinny dip their way from Toronto to Dildo, Newfoundland.
As this disparate group of four unbelievable women embark on the riotous cross country road trip, members of the Beaver Club band together to find strength in numbers as they tackle the world and hope find a happy ending Dildo.
Port Stanley Festival Theatre’s Associate Artistic Director Liz Gilroy returns for another show in the directors chair, following the success of her production of “Wrong For Each Other” by Norm Foster.
She notes just how incredible it has been to work alongside the actors.
Another highlight for Gilroy was the way their team came together to come up with how exactly they could depict a road trip, while still being confined to the Port Stanley Festival Theatre stage.
Playwright Barb Scheffler was on hand Thursday for the special gala and premiere night, making the moment even more memorable adds Gilroy.
“The Beaver Club” by Barb Scheffler is on stage now, running through August 19th, with matinee and evening shows available.
