For the second day in a row, St. Thomas Police are reminding residents to stay vigilant following a local fraud case.
Police were contacted Wednesday after a citizen fell victim to a text message scam they recieved the day before, alerting them that there were funds that needed to be deposited into their chequing account.
They provided their banking information and the next day noticed $2,500 worth of purchases from three different retailers had been charged to them. In addition, a new Credit Card attached to their chequing account had been opened.
The bank account was closed to prevent any further loss, however the investigation is continuing.
