It was another record breaking year at the 94.1 myFM and Elgin Roofing All Hands on Deck Food Drive.
The myFM team and our amazing group of sponsors spent the entire day Thursday spread out across Elgin County, collecting donations for our local food banks.
In St. Thomas, Karen McDade, General Manager of the St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank shared that we once again broke our record for the single largest food donation during our collection at the Real Canadian Superstore. And it was timely as the amount of clients they serve has reached an all time high.
With the cost of living continuing to skyrocket, McDade notes that people just can’t keep up anymore.
With the school year just around the corner, we asked to the community to think of the students yesterday and they did not disjoint. McDade says these products will go to use right away as just because school’s not in session, doesn’t mean our kids should go without.
McDade notes the need for this service also continues to increase.
With over 5 truck loads of food and a grand total of $1,195.70 raised during the All Hands on Deck Food Drive, McDade sends a huge heartfelt thank you to our generous community.
In Port Stanley at Foodland, $1,472.05 in cash and roughly $500 in product donations were raised for the Port Stanley Community Food Bank.
At Miller’s Your Independent Grocer, they sent two truck loads of food and $500 worth of monetary donations to the Corner Cupboard in Aylmer.
Thank you again to all our our amazing sponsors and members of the community who made the 5th Annual myFM and Elgin Roofing All Hands on Deck Food Drive such a success!
