It’s an exciting time for the community of West Lorne as they get set to host a number of fun events this week as the winners of Kraft Hockeyville 2023.
The organizing committee has been working tirelessly, planning local events and activities as well as the ticket distribution system for the preseason NHL game.
The tickets were not available to purchase to the general public, instead given those involved in minor hockey and a public drawing held for residents of West Elgin and Dutton-Dunwich.
Those who didn’t get tickets can still take part in the Community Celebration, running from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the West Elgin Arena and Miller Park. The Stanley Cup & NHL Alumni will be on hand, a community free skate will be taking place, with plenty more planned throughout the evening.
The Buffalo Sabres and Toronto Maple Leafs will then make their way region on Wednesday, where they’ll face off in NHL preseason action at the Joe Thornton Community Centre in St. Thomas. Local students from West Elgin will also get the chance to see some hockey action, with school-wide field trips planned for the morning practice.
