A 16-year-old St. Thomas youth has been charged following a head-on collision Monday in Central Elgin that hospitalized five people.
According to Elgin OPP, just before 1 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the scene on Sparta Line near Chestnut Grove. Police have determined one vehicle with four occupants crossed the centre line while rounding a curve and collided with the second vehicle with a lone occupant.
Four of the occupants were transported to hospital and one taken to a trauma centre by air ambulance.
None of the injuries were deemed life-threatening.
The youth driving the first vehicle was charged with careless driving.
