During the Thanksgiving long weekend, tragic incidents unfolded on OPP patrolled roads and waterways.
Four individuals passed away in separate motor vehicle collisions, while one boater lost their life.
A concerning number of drivers posed a risk to the safety of fellow road users throughout the province and OPP took action by issuing a total of 7,953 charges during the nationwide traffic enforcement initiative, Operation Impact.
Speeding took the lead with 4,829 charges, followed by 86 charges for stunt driving and racing.
An additional 283 individuals, both drivers and passengers, faced fines for seatbelt violations, while 131 cases of impaired driving and 60 instances of distracted driving charges were laid over the four day initiative.
