It’s small business week, a national celebration of Canadian entrepreneurs.
myFM and the Small Business Enterprise Centre have partnered once again this year to share the stories of our small business owners.
Today we salute The Union General Coffee Company.
Owners Jon and Martha Fuller of Union first began their journey into the coffee world in 2020 when they started experimenting with the roasting of beans. Martha explains how some unplanned life and health events lead their family to open Union General Coffee Company just last year.
But as Martha notes, it wasn’t even in the plans to open a business when they first started out.
And they weren’t the only ones as it turns out. She explains that while they mainly focus on coffee beans, the local support has already lead them to other avenues.
This includes Briwood Farm Market, Simply Pure Water, Howe’s Farm Market & Country Bakery in Aylmer and St. Thomas, Caps Off Brewing Company and Lynhurst Esso and Variety.
The Fuller’s add that without the local business community’s willingness to give them a chance, they would probably still be strictly home roasters.
Speaking of roasting, Jon and Martha’s passion for the craft continues to grow, with coffee roasted fresh weekly.
Jon explains where around the world they source their beans, helping to give their coffee such an unique taste.
In addition to the local businesses who stock their products, you can also order Union General Coffee Company online, with free local delivery notes Martha.
She adds that the size of their operation also allows for more customization, which can be great for staff events and even weddings.
As they continue to grow, The Union General Coffee Company hopes to participant in more events and support as many initiatives as possible that give back to the local community.
You can stay up to date with The Union General Coffee Company through their Facebook and Instagram pages, and be sure to order your coffee at uniongeneralcoffeeco.ca.
