A 17-year-old St. Thomas resident has been arrested and charged after attempting to steal from the drawers behind the cash area of a local clothing store.
St. Thomas Police say investigation revealed that an employee at the store, located in the Elgin Centre, noticed the theft in progress and started to yell for help.
The suspect then fled the scene, but a good Samaritan was able to stop the accused and hold them until police arrived.
The 17-year-old was charged with Theft under $5,000 and Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine.
