A 44 year old St. Thomas resident wanted by the RCMP in Newfoundland for a number of sexual offences has been arrested.
St. Thomas Police conducted a traffic stop in the city and learned that the driver of the vehicle was under suspension and operation of a motor vehicle was prohibited.
That’s when they were also made aware of an outstanding warrant with the RCMP, for two counts sexual assault, two counts sexual interference and two counts of exposure of genitals.
The St. Thomas resident was transported to police headquarters, processed on the traffic charges and was held in custody.
The new charges include one count driving while under suspension, one count operation while prohibited and one count take motor vehicle without consent.
The St. Thomas Police Service is now assisting members of the RCMP in facilitating the transfer of custody so the accused can answer to the charges in Newfoundland.
