A thorough rebuild of several Elgin county websites will be undertaken thanks to a $50,000 provincial investment.
Funding for the project will be provided through the Rural Economic Development (RED) program.
The funds will allow a rebuild of the county’s main website along with the tourism and economic development websites.
At the announcement Friday, Elgin Warden Ed Ketchabaw said the grant will enable the county to create a more user-friendly website to promote the region’s assets and attract investment.
Elgin-Middlesex-London MPP Rob Flack added, “Increasing connectivity among our rural municipalities through an improved online presence is necessary. Ontario’s investment through the Rural Economic Development program will provide easier access to information and local businesses within a secure digital platform, allowing for greater economic growth for our region.”
The last overhaul of county websites occurred in 2017, with an initial projected lifecycle of four years. However, various challenges emerged in the subsequent years, including the COVID-19 pandemic and a cyber-security incident in 2022.
