The provincial government is expanding the scope of services for registered nurses.
Health Minister Sylvia Jones outlined what RN’s will be able to provide the public in the announcement Monday.
Jones noted this builds on the skills nurses already have.
Nurses interested in taking additional training will be able to write prescriptions for certain conditions such as contraception, immunizations, smoking cessation, and topical wound care.
Registration for the optional training opens in January and will be offered at certain colleges and universities.
