A local resident has been scrammed out of $15,000 after falling victim to a crypto currency, employment fraud.
Through investigation, St. Thomas Police learned that the victim had clicked on an online employment ad posted by someone posing as a hotel based travel company, leading to further communication about a job opportunity.
The victim was then given a set of instructions to begin training, which included downloading software to their computer. Through a series of tasks given to the victim and several financial transactions, they became of aware of the scam and contacted police.
The investigation continues.
