The province is planning to boost compensation for injured workers.
Labour Minister David Piccini says new legislation set to be introduced soon will allow increases to Workplace Safety and Insurance Board benefits to be “super indexed” to a rate above inflation.
He says the changes will let the government set annual increases, and if that amount was two per cent, an injured worker earning 70-thousand-dollars a year would get an extra 900 dollars annually on top of cost-of-living adjustments.
Cancer coverage for more firefighters and fire investigators would also improve under the bill.
