The lawyer for a man accused of killing four members of a Muslim family in London two years ago says his client should be held responsible for the deaths — but is not guilty of first- or second-degree murder.
In his closing arguments on Tuesday, Nathanial Veltman’s lawyer argued his client suffered from several mental disorders including severe depression, autism spectrum disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
He also had ingested magic mushrooms two days before the attack.
In addressing jurors in a Windsor courtroom, the Crown argued 22-year-old Veltman carried out a terrorist act on June 6th, 2021.
Veltman has pleaded not guilty to four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.The trial has heard that Veltman hit the Afzaal family with his truck while they were out for a walk.
