A late-night traffic stop turned into a bonanza for St. Thomas Police, with the assistance of Elgin OPP.
An officer stopped a vehicle with three people in it shortly after 11 p.m. Friday in the area of Talbot Street and Sunset Drive.
The motorist was determined to be a suspended driver and a search uncovered a small amount of crystal meth and a knife.
A female in the back seat was also wanted on outstanding warrants and was found to have more drugs and a semi-automatic handgun.
Additionally, a second man was arrested for outstanding warrants. All three are from London.
A search of the vehicle uncovered over $110,000 in illicit drugs, which included crack cocaine, cocaine, cydromorphone, Dilaudid and fentanyl.
Male #1 – 47 years old from London is charged with the following:
1) Unauthorized possession of a firearm
2) Unauthorized possession of a weapon
3) Possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order
4) Operation while prohibited
5) Careless storage of a firearm
6) Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
7) Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited or restricted weapon
8) Six counts of trafficking a controlled substance
9) Drive Under Suspension
10) Drive wrong way – one-way traffic
11) Fail to Surrender permit for motor vehicle
12) Fail to surrender insurance card
Male #2 – 32 years old from London is charged with the following:
1)Unauthorized possession of a firearm
2) Unauthorized possession of a weapon
3) Two counts possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order
4) Careless storage of a firearm
5) Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
6) Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited or restricted weapon
7) Five counts of trafficking a controlled substance
Female – 28 years olds from London is charged with the following:
1) Unauthorized possession of a firearm
2) Unauthorized possession of a weapon
3) Careless storage of a firearm
4) Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
5) Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited or restricted weapon
6) Five counts of trafficking a controlled substance
