A 46-year-old Aylmer man has been charged with impaired operation after striking a telephone pole in the Town last Monday.
Aylmer Police were called to a Sydenham Street address just before midnight, where they located both the vehicle and driver at the scene.
The male was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Thomas Police Station for a breath test that registered results nearly 3 times the legal limit.
As a result, the 46-year-old has been charged with impaired operation of a conveyance, BAC 80 plus and having liquor readily available.
He was later released on an undertaking with conditions and is set to appear at the Elgin County Court House next month to answer to the charges.
