The Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association says contract talks with the province have been moving extremely slow and it wants a conciliator to step in and help.
The talks have been ongoing for almost 18 months.
The association’s president Rene Jansen says Catholic teachers have been beyond patient, especially as other education affiliates reach tentative agreements.
He adds filing for a conciliation doesn’t mean there will be any job action after members previously voted 97 per cent in favour of giving their union a strike mandate.
